Director Statement

The idea came up after a personal conflict with many of my acquaintances when I left Lebanon to continue my studies abroad. I faced numerous comments and even attacks regarding my supposedly comfortable life, simply because I lived outside of Lebanon and based on what they saw on my social media. The idea initially began with only one part, which was to document the daily struggles of a Lebanese student in Paris. This way, I could show the Lebanese community in Lebanon that living abroad is not as easy as they think. I also aimed to demonstrate the immense pressure and mental problems that we face while living in a foreign country, especially in a large, fast-moving city with significant cultural differences. After a year of living in France, I and many of my Lebanese acquaintances in Paris started questioning if we had made the right choice leaving Lebanon. This led to the idea of the second part, which involves documenting the daily struggles of a Lebanese student in Lebanon. Through this, I hope to remind every Lebanese immigrant why they chose this path in life.
