Director Biography - Desmond Levi Jackson

Originally a dancer, poet, and anime lover from the quaint suburbs of San Antonio, Texas – Desmond is an Afroqueer filmmaker passionate about showcasing intersectional experiences in his work.

In the narrative space, his short film WOLVES was an official selection at the Pan African Film Festival and Newfilmakers Los Angeles before receiving distribution from KweliTV. His short film BE, highlighting the stigmatization of male bisexuality, premiered at the Atlanta Horror Film Festival and Micheaux Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Since 2019, Desmond has been a recipient of several fellowships such as the Facebook Seen Future Filmmakers Fellowship, Sundance’s Blackhouse Fellowship and the Academy Gold program along with being selected as one of ten emerging filmmakers in the 2022 Deutsche Bank Frieze LA Film Fellowship.
