Ungrateful

In the not-so-distant past, Portuguese laws dictated that women were mere property of men and that men could do as they pleased with their wives, including physical abuse. However, women banded together and fought for the same rights that men have enjoyed for centuries. It is disheartening to see that some women today do not appreciate the sacrifices made by these feminist pioneers and instead label them as foolish. Perhaps these women who take their freedoms for granted should take a trip down memory lane and appreciate the struggle and hard-won victories that paved the way for their own liberation. It is important to honor the past and continue the fight for gender equality so that future generations of women can live in a world where their worth is not defined by their gender.
