Unforgettable Scar
36-year-old George runs a free tailoring school based in Gulu, Northern Uganda. At the age of 10, a landmine blast nearly took his life but nevertheless left him a double amputee.
Through his school, he hopes to spread hope in a community that bears the visible and invisible scars of a brutal civil war.

Christine is a Ugandan journalist and radio show host with a focus on solutions journalism and community development.
As a woman and child rights advocate, she is keen to promote a trauma and stigma free world especially in the post-conflict Acholi sub-region of Uganda.
She is the co-founder of Girls For Change, an organisation seeking to advance women empowerment in her home city of Gulu.
I decided to highlight George in the hope that his story can cause change in the lives and minds of many others like him in Northern Uganda and other war torn places.
I was born in Gulu during the civil war and after witnessing extensive human suffering, giving up in life is very easy.
With this film, I want to inspire victims of trauma, torture and harm. I want to tell them that there is still so much they can do with their lives, while at the same time challenging them not to accept the status quo of victimhood.
