Min Quek: Currently a Bachelor of Filmmaking at UWE Bristol, Min’s practice revolves around using mixed creative practices that anchor her introspections to physical reality, seeking to reify the visceral while building on a profound sense of connection with others. With a penchant for soft dreamscapes and melancholic colours, she investigates emotional and sentimental stories that often go untold and unseen, exploring diverse stories featuring Asian characters.
At UWE Bristol she has worked on multiple curriculum-based short projects, but Undying Love was her first narrative film that she wrote and co-directed. As an avid reader, she reads and writes frequently, not only for films but song lyrics and poems too.
Sean Rump: Studying a Bachelor of Filmmaking at UWE Bristol, Sean is always looking to develop his craft and build on each aspect of filmmaking to become a better filmmaker. His experience ranges from technical roles like camerawork to script writing and development. These skills reflect his attentive attitude to filmmaking and allow him to be receptive to growth.
Sean’s experience mainly lies in solo self-directed work with Undying Love being the first joint production that he’s co-directed. Sean has recently won an award at the Frome Climate Film Festival for his work on the short documentary The Unlikely Activist (2023). Sean’s filmmaking journey has only just begun, and he is looking forward to exciting endeavors in the future.
Filmmakers Min and Sean both aim to engage in empathy and explore the intricacies of human experiences. Even though they are 2nd Year Filmmaking students at UWE, they want to practice and develop their craft through pushing the boundaries of normative media.
In Undying Love, Min and Sean fictionalise a true story that happened to a relative of Min, who is also the writer of the film. Min took inspiration from the people involved and created the characters of Ren and Nabi, a recently engaged couple who are preparing for their wedding
