Director Statement

I am a 20-year-old Latino filmmaker exploring topics of inner turmoil that get brushed aside for more macro issues. Growing up, I rarely had a chance to explore art as a viable option for study or hobby. My family was more focused on keeping our middle-class standing; however, time and time again, micro issues that affect the poor and middle class reveal themselves—every time being shrugged off for more popular matters. Witnessing this behavior periodically made me want to explore such topics that affect as much as addiction and PTSD in my future art. Now that I am in university studying my art form, I would like to present "Underneath It All," my first endeavor in exploring the issues that affect us in the 90%.
