Uncounted
This short documentary revolves around Lea, a woman who has always been afraid of getting pregnant due to a recurring childhood nightmare of being pregnant during a dark time in the world when the baby couldn't breathe. Unexpectedly, despite using birth control, she becomes pregnant during the COVID-19 pandemic after contracting the virus. She goes into labor prematurely at just 23 weeks and tests positive for COVID-19 once again but then tests negative twice. However, her baby is born with severe complications that the doctors cannot explain.
Through Lea's experiences, the film explores the mysterious consequences of COVID-19 on pregnancy and the babies that are not counted in official statistics. It portrays the emotional and physical struggles that Lea faces as she navigates the pandemic and her premature delivery. Ultimately, the film highlights the importance of understanding the impact of COVID-19 on pregnancy and raising awareness about the challenges faced by mothers and babies during this unprecedented time.
