UV-TV "HIDE" (Official Video)
The "Hide" music video captures the band UV-TV in a way that feels straightforward, unaffected, and celebratory. In many ways, it's a callback to classic music videos from the '80s by bands like The Pastels, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Clean and Sonic Youth. The videos' use of rapid cuts emphasizes the intensity and energy of the song along with bright, dazzling images that personify the band's image and contrasting elements. The locations are set in Deerfield, Massachusetts, the hometown of Director Jack Gobillot. These scenes are the areas he would often escape to in his youth and were chosen for their unique mixture of natural beauty and urban decay on a grandiose scale. These images mirror UV-TV's shadowy pop sound, which blends softer, melodic vocals, with jagged guitars and thunderous drums. "Hide" captures the dark energy of joy and rebellion, which is the impetus for the band's expression within their work.

Jack grew up in the woods, but lives in Brooklyn now, where he works as a freelance writer and director for film and stage. He frequently collaborates with The Blue Fort, a production company he helped start in 2015, to make documentary shorts, ads and narrative pieces. Recent projects include music videos for Lina Tullgren (Captured Tracks), and UVTV (Deranged Records), as well as a short film he wrote, produced and directed called Club Castaway.
We went into this project with an uninhibited and receptive attitude that I think comes through in the exhilarating tone of the video. UVTV sounds big and I wanted to see them in similarly grand locations while still giving them space to relax and be their natural selves. The video was shot over the course of one day, and was an exercise in trust rather than control. This trust was rewarded in the end with a firework show we didn’t know was going to happen, but serendipity put us in the right place to capture.
