URBAN ECHOES

In the shadows of contemporary cities, hidden ruins bear witness to the passage of time.When urban ruins transform into the setting for the conception of environmental dance, the intertwining of improvisational dance and documentary films occurs.This film aims to poetically reflect on the delicate relationship between humans and nature, as well as the connection between the unique body language of modern dancers and the appearance of modern urban ruins.

Director Biography - Yanyu Zhang, Yu Wu

Two students majoring in radio and television programming at South China Agricultural University

Zhang Yanyu, female,a blue clay in the drum washing machine. Mainly using images as a medium of expression, recently focusing on the connection between human emotions and space, exploring the boundary between documentary and experimental styles.

Wu Yu, female, has a Chinese name that sounds like "Wu Yu" which roughly means carefree and speechless.

Director Statement

As urban environments progress and undergo changes, we reassess our role within them by scrutinizing the abandoned state of these human-altered regions. By utilizing a series of interconnected shots with inherent logical associations, various components such as bubbles, ladders, and flashlights contribute to the rise of contemporary dance performers. We merge the remnants left in the wake of human departure, ultimately leading to the emergence of modern dancers.
