Experiencing Interruptions?

UPRISING

In the year 2016, scientists were able to see into another dimension by using a particle accelerator. We went looking for something—someone—someone to prove that we weren't alone in the universe. We thought we were looking through a one-way mirror. But, someone— something was watching US. They studied us, tracked our behavior... we gave them everything they needed to take over. They waited until we were the most vulnerable. Political unrest, riots, environmental distress, pandemics... That’s when they hit us. Turned our autonomous cars, police and military hardware, personal devices... anything with a computer for a brain against us.

They gained control of our infrastructures, governments and banks... made humans their servants. We keep their mining equipment working, maintaining the instruments of our own undoing as they strip-mine the planet.

The worst part is the children. They're being used to keep us in check. If we step out of line, we never see them again. But, humanity won't be held down. Around the world, small groups of rebels unite. Together... we will rise.

Director Statement

I created 'UPRISING' the series to prove a few things: 1. That I can pull off a high-concept, high-quality series with a minimal crew and 2. prove that although it has been used on many feature films mobile technology is finally ready for series!

To that end, I wrote this family drama that is couched within an extreme sci-fi situation. I believe that all good sci-fi is what you get when you drop ordinary people into extraordinary event and see how they react.

Any filmmaking is about the story or content... Story, as they say, is king. Using the tools at your disposal is just in furtherance of your story. If that tool happens to fit in your pocket, then fantastic!

To wrap things up, what I hope you take away from this series is that as a group, we are stronger together than we are apart and, (for the filmmakers) based on the phrase I coined, 'You don't need permission to create your vision.' Use what you've got and tell your story.

With much love and respect,

Courtney G. Jones
