Short and Sweet TVCape Town
South Africa
I am an independent filmmaker based in Cape Town (South Africa). While my career has primarily involved earth science and geographic information systems (GIS) I started teaching myself filmmaking in mid 2014 (UCT TV & Kisambo Media). My projects are self-funded / non-profit and include: a documentary for the “Unmute Dance Group” (2014), “Killer on the Run” (a music video about violence on women, 2016) and more recently “Forest Drive” (a surreal psychological drama, 2019) and “Johnny’s Upstairs” (a dark sensual drama, in production.) I am involved in all aspects of the filmmaking process (writing, directing, editing etc) and work with a skeleton crew. I am self-taught on the Red dragon, C500, sound, editing software and other technical gear. More recently I completed the Hollywood Camera Work Directing Actors Training Course (2017-2018) (Per Holmes ©).
I enjoy creating dramas and epic visuals that move people emotionally. I am fascinated by Nature and human nature and by seeking order and beauty in the unexpected niches. Film is an incredibly powerful medium for introspection, creation and for learning how to understand, communicate with and positively influence others around us. For me each project is about savouring the visuals of our existence and taking a step closer towards connecting with others.
