The fourth (4th) edition of the UDADAFilm Festival will be held in Nairobi. Daily screenings will be at the Alliance Francaise. Other venues will include three main universities which teach filmmaking: Multimedia University of Kenya, Kenyatta University and the Kenya Institute of Mass Communications.Kenyan students of film are important to us and we take films to them every year.

This year’s theme is:GENDER: PROVOKE | DEBATE | EVOLVE

Gender roles, stereotypes are issues that have slowly but steadily been gaining importance in the public space. The choice of the theme is influenced by the need to explore and highlight howgender influences professional and personal lives and how we experience and view the world. The Festival will invite gender experts to discuss the issues pertaining to both the girl- and the boychild. It will be worth it to try to find out if the boychild is, indeed, neglected. How does upbringing of boys and girls affect their future roles?

The Festival theme nights will give our guests a cultural night celebrating films and culture and culinary delights of particular countries. The Embassy of Spain has sponsored a Spanish theme night since Udada was launched.
The opening ceremony consists of artistic performances and a cocktail party. The closing ceremony is a gala event for presenting awards to deserving film personalities and, of course, there is a party. Those are already four parties! More are to be announced.

Not sure what happened here. Communication about the festival and screening was just not there.

Any festival that supports and nurtures African female filmmakers and storytellers is one worth getting behind. Truly honored to have won the Best Feature prize.
