Director Biography - Marcus Hopkins-Turner

Marcus Hopkins-Turner was born and raised in Southwest Atlanta, GA. After receiving a BA in performance from Morehouse College he would make his way onto many professional regional stages. As an actor Marcus' career has spanned a decade on both the stage and the screen. Notable performances include Prince of Egypt at Tuacahn center for the Arts and Hands Up at the Alliance Theatre. He can be see as Jalil Watts in the AMC show 61st St. As a producer, director and writer he has had the opportunity to tell diverse black stories through various forms of collaboration and taking the helm of his own projects. He has partnered with Black Man Films as a producer as their projects made their way through the festival circuit and into feature development. Marcus has also developed his own web series and is looking to build out his own festival ready shorts.

As a creative who likes to explore himself in the ridiculous, I believe this project speaks for itself in terms of taking a kernel of the black experience and expanding upon it.
