A Dozen Suns

“A Dozen Suns" is a gripping sci-fi short film that delves into the complex relationship between Sunita “Sun” Walsh, a young woman who discovers she has been miraculously cured from a terminal illness.

Sun's life is forever changed when during a routine check-up, she learns that her seemingly incurable illness has vanished without a trace. While the doctors have no explanation, Sun is left with a burning desire for answers and a chilling suspicion that her father, Dr. Julian Walsh, a brilliant but enigmatic scientist, has something to do with this astonishing turn of events. Together with her supportive boyfriend, Michael, Sun decides to pass her reticent father a long overdue visit.

Dr. Walsh, consumed by his desperate quest to save his daughter’s life, has kept Sun in the dark about his secret research. As Sun confronts him, a tense and emotionally charged exchange unfolds, as the truth about her illness and the extraordinary measures her father took to find a cure are gradually revealed. Driven by his relentless pursuit of healing Sun from her illness, he has cloned her over a dozen times hoping to eradicate the genetic disorder that causes the illness.

Unbeknownst to Michael, who is patiently waiting for his girlfriend’s return in the gardens, he meets a degenerate clone version of Sun whose animalistic behaviour routs him out.
As Sun herself is led to meet her clones for the first time, she grapples with conflicting emotions of fascination, confusion, anger, and betrayal, while questioning the meaning of her own existence. She realises that her father's love for her had driven him to great lengths, blurring ethical boundaries in his quest for a cure. He reveals that the real Sun had succumbed to her illness long time ago. Sun herself is really only a clone, but the only clone that turned out healthy.

“Twin Sun" explores themes of identity, morality, and the depth of parental love.
