An Alaskan Alaska Native - Yup'ik, Inupiaq, and Athabascan, as well as African American. A bachelor in Indigenous Filmmaking and an MFA in Creative writing with emphasis in film and television writing. Kavelina has had two full evening stage plays, a myriad of short plays, a Sundance Native Film alum, and a short film on PBS nationwide.
I am an Indigenous writer writing about snow, northern settings, and the future. I enjoy writing Indigenous protagonists as much as I enjoy watching writing in action on TV, film, and stage. My writing showcases themes from my culture(s) and landscapes where I grew up and still live - Alaska.
