Director Statement

I am asked a lot about why I, an African American, wanted to write and direct a period piece in Ireland. I had fallen in love with Ireland after my first Eurotrip which started there. I became fascinated with their difference of life and their history. I wanted to make a story that I felt strong about, that dealt with beauty, pain and independence. Taking a very political time period and making a stripped down story about a young man's personal plight and how a courageous young woman changes his life felt right to me. Growing up I have been judged being around others due to cultural differences, skin color, or class. The main characters in this experience shades of this and find a way to move past them.
I hope people can watch this film and understand the themes that are going on in this.
