Trouble in The Streets - Mad Science
A dusty, dystopian short shot in the West Texas desert, supporting the fiery sounds of “Mad Science” off the band’s sophomore electro-punk effort, Rule Breaker. The director cites Storm Thorgerson’s surrealist Pink Floyd album covers and sci-fi filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky as visual cues.
The video presents a post-apocalyptic world and in many ways echoes a subliminal commentary on post-America. A world where our gilded masters, and the control they once had, has broken. Now, we are left to create our own sense of order in the world.
While penning the track, released on the album May 2019, front woman Nnedi Agbaroji processed police brutality and mistreatment of asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border.
