I created The EffYou 50s, because as I aged and was finding more gray hairs, I also found my voice. I experienced a transformative journey often accompanied by menopause. This led me to coin the phrase “The EffYou 50s” to push back against societal expectations of women as they age. I realized very quickly I was far from alone. I gave myself a Real Housewife Tag-line “I can thrive at 55.” and began my foray into the independent film arena, where I discovered my professional, artistic, and collaborative passion. With my children now independent, it was finally “mommy’s turn.”
I went back to school at 59, studied at UCLA-Extension for my Independent Film Producing Certificate. I worked on both Studio and Indy sets and immersed myself in my new found passion of Independent Filmmaking
I also created this for my daughter, for my nieces, for all the daughters, I do not want them to wait till 50+ to find their voice. But this film is also for my son. As people we can define our own prime, especially us gals, we benefit from others In our life understanding and respecting our path to self learning. This is a Pro-Women short film but it is not an Anti-Anyone film. The two can be true at the same time!
I have always been a late bloomer, but at least I bloom. I am very proud I made my first film at 62 years young
