Maxim Bessmertny (b. 24th December 1988) is a Macau and Hong Kong based director, screenwriter and producer. He is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of The Arts with an MFA in Film Production. Maxim’s narrative short film 'Tricycle Thief' World Premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, won the 2015 Kodak Gold Award for best short film and has played at numerous festivals worldwide. He has worked with numerous clients on commercials and advertisements including Zouk Singapore, Pacha Macau, City of Dreams and Wynn Resorts. Maxim’s latest documentary effort is a partnership with a creative company organized to produce 'What's Your Art?', a mini-documentary series focused on eccentric characters living in Asia. His first solo exhibition show was held this year and showcased creative works and short films from the past few years. Sampan, his latest short film, world premiered at Pacific Meridian International Film Festival in September 2018.
This was my second year film project for NYU. It was the first time I was dealing with a big crew, a serious (for that time) budget and professional actors. It was the beginning of a long addiction to cinema.
