Director Biography - crazer

Chad Rullman (aka crazer) has created works on film for the past two decades, including music videos for legendary metal bands such as Mastodon, Neurosis, and Nile. Prior works were shot on 35mm and 16mm film, and produced on manufactured sets and real world locations.

During the recent global pandemic, time was spent learning to communicate with bleeding-edge Ai tools. With this new tech, crazer found ways to tell animated stories with a similar aesthetic to that which he developed with his traditional film works.

Director Statement

To create experimental films like "Tribes of the Apocalypse", I have been collaborating with Ai entities to generate the images and sounds required to tell the desired story.

I quickly noticed that my instructions to the Ai are nearly identical to those conversations I would have with Cinematographers, Actors, Art Dept and Wardrobe when producing a traditional film.

While creating films with Ai, I 100% feel like the filmmaker I've always been, only it's like working with aliens instead of humans. Awkward at first, until I learned the proper ways to communicate what's in my head to the collaborators, but once we synchronized, I discovered an exhilarating way to tell stories that I could never afford to produce with traditional methods.
