Director Statement

I wrote, directed, and starred in this film because in a sense it may just be a reflection of me. Although it is an exaggerated version of myself, I wanted to understand and truly feel how it’s like to let myself go. I had a similar experience as the character but I took a different route in how to deal with it. Also, in the past I was a very overweight child that everyone made fun of me, even my close friends and family. I tried to avoid the lifestyle this character lived, and again I just wanted to know what it’s like if I ever went that direction.

Now, weighing at 215 pounds, it was the heaviest I’ve ever been in my entire life. To truly portray character, I wanted to make it as authentic as possible to show the kind of change he had.

As a person, I face the temptation of the 7 deadly sins everyday. Treat Yourself explores the excess of gluttony and the harmful behaviours a person can have if they don’t know their limits.

I have been writing a 7 film arc for this character's journey in facing all 7 deadly sins with Pride up next.
