Treasure
When Dhanvi, an impressionable 12-year-old, comes across a video of treasure hunters discovering a massive treasure chest filled with gold and jewels, she is immediately drawn to the idea of finding her own “great treasure” and her obsession manages to isolate her from her family and friends. But, when an abandoned little puppy and a vivacious young lady make their way into her life, she discovers more positive ways to channel her obsession, and the less time she spends looking for her treasure, the closer she gets to understanding the true meaning of it. The real great treasure, the kind that really matters, can’t be found in tombs or under a rock. It is collected, throughout one’s life, in the form of relationships and memories.

Kavika Sharma is a screenwriter, director and author. Her journey as a storyteller began with a desire to live out her impossible dreams and make people smile. When she isn’t reading or binge watching the latest shows and movies, she can be found creating elaborate worlds with action-packed adventures, dangerously witty characters, and a dash of comedy.
When we encounter the word "treasure," the first thing that comes to our mind is probably stuff like money, gold and sparkly gems. That makes sense, it's also the first definition that pops up on Google. But, when I was all alone in a foreign country during the pandemic, I would have gladly given all of that up just to be reunited with my family and friends. In fact, when I came home after almost a year and saw my family waiting for me at the door—my heart finally settled back into its place.
Which brings us to another definition of the word treasure—a much loved or valued person. And that is what my film is all about. It is a love letter to every person and experience I hold dear.
When I open my treasure chest 10-20 years from now, I hope it is filled with memorable relationships, happy memories and, of course, my first film—Treasure.
I really hope my film makes you smile!
