Director Statement

Yapak aims to highlight the resounding insignificance of the aspirational individual— the Filipino middle class and in its search for meaning and purpose, contrasted against the turmoiled lives of the multitude in the time of state-sanctioned killings.

The film plays with the notion of myths and old wives' tales that obscure truth or perturb reality, and the nowness of myth-making as an apparatus of control.
