Trajectories

Trajectories explores the many shades of human being, in a series of encounters and dialogues of what exists in each of us. Different geographic and emotional paths to follow, in order to come into contact with each other. Eight women and men embody several archetypes, powerful and vulnerable at the same time – in a performative installation of six scenes; Narcissus, Skennen'kó: Wa, Magna Mater, Anima, Animus, Androgynous. Through the audience wandering, they come to life, then die, each with strength and modesty. Further than the scenes they symbolize, their simple presence and diversity is a testimony of their richness: age, sexe, ethnicity, origins, genres, orientations, personalities, etc. Enigmatic narratives, singular paths, Trajectories thus blurs certain codes between audience and performers to create a being-ensemble capable of opening the range of new sensitive and transcultural approaches. Trajectories evokes the complexity and the profusion of the human psyche – and invites to rethink.

Diversity is a source of wealth for those who are open to it and welcome it. Pluralism generates a healthy evolution of cultures because a society is not petrified in time, it evolves by feeding itself with exchanges and the creativity of people who have known how to think differently. Our capacity to open up to singularities contributes to our driving force to move towards an inclusive society where we will no longer need to deny our differences to live together. To muzzle or annihilate our individualities would be to deny life itself. Diversity teaches us to think outside the box in order to find common trajectories and thus overcome limiting archetypes.

Director Biography - Elian MATA

In 2018, author, dramaturge, choreographer and visionary Élian Mata created the unforgettable Forêt with a first collective of performers; he returns with Trajectoires, a performance installation involving eight collaborators. Moving through this rich, moving tableau that deals with the nuance and complexity of being human, the audience encounters these living works of art embodied by the performers: six creations dedicated to representation. And on this journey, we seek to understand Anima, Animus and Androgyny; and we reflect on this Narcissus that exists in each of us, each one evoking in their own way the complexity and profundity of the human psyche through a series of enigmatic tales whose collective voice is as singular as it is manifold.
