Director Statement

"In Progress" reflects my desire to share a story that is intimately personal but also speaks to larger truths. Using a combination of personal narration, interviews with my parents (which include brief portions of their journal entries), and interpretive footage, I offer a self-deprecating yet urgent portrayal of growing up, making choices, and allowing yourself to love and be loved. It is my hope that others, no matter the town in which they grew up or the families from which they came, can find humor and connection in my trials and tribulations and recognize the possibility residing in life's lack of permanence.
