Trailer — The Sky Island Restoration Collaborative
Scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey's Aridland Water Harvesting Study are partnering with restoration practitioners and land and water resource managers to build resilience in the United States-Mexico border. Respresentatives from various backgrounds are joining together across administrative boundaries of the Madrean Archipelago Ecoregion of North America. This video introduces some of the partners, places and restoration structures we are using, along with our associated scientific research. We describe the development of the Sky Island Restoration Collaborative (SIRC) and our integration of science and practice. SIRC partners are working together to sustain biodiversity, improve resilience to a changing climate, and re-establish an ecologically healthy relationship between nature and culture in the borderlands, where economies focused on restoration and stewardship benefit everyone.
