Traffic II

Like its predecessor, Traffic II is a double exposed and home developed Regular-8 film, shot with a Bolex B8VS in my home town Göttingen, Germany.

Thanks to Jürgen Lossau @ click&surr, Berlin, Kodak Ektachrome 100D was available for a short time in Germany in Double-8, so I had the opportunity to make this film in color.

The film was developed in a home made "E-6 substitute process", inspired by Kathryn Ramey and Robert Schaller (see Ramey, Experimental Filmmaking, p. 186).
I modified this pocess to use my b/w reversal FD, Dokumol 1+9 with thiocyanate (5g/L) and sodium iodine (50mg/L), for 6 min @ 39.5°C.
After re-exposure I used regular C-41 chemistry, so it was possible to develop the positive and the negative parts of the film in the same process.

While this experimental pocess reduces cost (no expensive E-6 chemistry), it is not able to produce the colors as precisely as a regular E-6 process would. So I worked with b/w color filters to produce false/changed colors deliberately.

This was my last roll of Ektachrome and my C-41 chemistry is spent. I guess this film will be the first and the last of its kind.

Regrettably my camera turned out to run irregularly. By the end of each roll the pictures become less stable. I hope that I have already fixed this problem, but it won't help with this film.
