Tower
The dilapidated chimney stands like a candle in the abandoned city, but the birds have already regarded it as their home. The elementary school next door plays radio from early morning to sunset, mixed with the laughter and noise of students. The birds are indeed flying freely. Night is about to fall, but the people in the building quietly turn on the lights.

Dayang, director and cinematographer, born in Hebei, graduated from cinematography department, Beijing Film Academy. Plenty of his works have been published domestically. In his early childhood, he was indulged in classical music, he is now also an electronic music artist.
The insight Dayang possesses derives from the city and the nature, and the collision between people, just like the ebb and flow of tides. He is keen to feel the resonance of wind, rain, rivers, lakes, seas, trembling leaves and everlasting mountains. He tends to blend natural elements into realistic or unrealistic films, which creates his own unique image style. After finishing “Soap”, the short film, he also stays active in preparing for his first feature film.
Times are advancing, but nothing has changed. Abandoned things are still abandoned, but they also have life. In the 1970s, chimneys stood like towers in abandoned factories, at the junction of farmland and city, and next to schools. They were motionless. But full of vitality. Birds would come and go freely. The sound of students playing during class breaks, and of course the old-fashioned trains whizzing across the bridge in the distance. The sound will not dissipate, it just leaves temporarily. Although the towers are in disrepair, they are full of energy. At night, they also imagine their other lives.
