To the Heaven

"To the heaven" is a creation that prompts us to reconsider the range of human relationships. Homosexual love, which is the subject matter here, has not received legal recognition in Sri Lanka to this day. It is also a topic that the majority of Sri Lankans, who hold extremely traditional attitudes, do not want to discuss in public.
However, Heshan Kuruppu, the creator of the lyrics, voice, and music, has taken a more courageous step towards safeguarding delicate human rights through the art of music. The music video delicately portrays the heart-to-heart connection between two homosexual lovers, their playful friendship, and love that goes beyond the physical aspect.
The life they share is brimming with love, and there are signs of a deep, meaningful relationship that involves sharing feelings and a life that extends beyond the shallow outlook that people typically associate with homosexual couples. The music video subtly conveys eroticism, mainly through its use of colors and blurs. It also depicts the silent pain that one of the lovers bears after the departure of the other and the shattered dreams they once had together, all with a delicate touch.
Although the people who loved without being constrained by the standard legal frameworks have passed away, the brief time they spent together was akin to a life spent in paradise for them and those who shared their lives with them. Love is love, regardless of whether it is homosexual or heterosexual, and it cannot be labeled. This song, which was awarded by Colombo Pride 2022, EQUAL GROUND, has given us a more extensive understanding of human relationships beyond the boundaries we previously knew.
