Too much and not enough
Against Vivaldi's Four Seasons and plans of the Venitian Lagoon, Too much and not enough (2019) offers an exploration of the conflict between the lack and excess of two essential elements of life: water and sun. Dressed as a futuristic explorer, armed with selfie sticks and other tripods, Mona – Western name chosen by the artist of Korean origin in reference to the protagonist of the movie Vagabond by Agnès Varda – roams a potentially fragile ecosystem, alternating between canals and worldliness.
Based on a series of tragicomic observations and a surge of superlatives, the artist builds a caustic symphony that alternates between three languages – Korean, English and French.

My work focuses on the understanding of visual signs and information as well as their possible evolution in the future. The signs that I put in place are not always visible. This ambiguity creates a poetic and humorous space that leaves a certain freedom of interpretation and appropriation by the spectator. I use language, but also ordinary objects or light as materials - post-its, artificial flowers and illuminated signs are just some of the media I have used.
Several of my works question the notion of inside / outside and use windows as a canvas and portal between these two states. The window can be seen as a symbol of boredom or mundanity and being dissatisfied with where you are physically and wanting to be elsewhere. This could also be boredom of misunderstanding or boredom with our existence. This tedium is the starting point of the work. I try to dissolve the boundary between real space and imaginary space. I seek to create works that wake us up and make us dream.
