Director Biography - Samy Midoun

from an early age, I had a deep connection with visual art. At just 9 years old I entered the world of theatre, a passion that marked the beginning of my adventure. The stage was my laboratory, the place where I learned to express myself and connect with the audience.
At 12 my interest shifted towards a new horizon: cinema. From Kubrick to Christopher Nolan, I began to fall in love with the magic of cinema. I realized that telling stories through the lens of a camera was my ultimate form of artistic expression.
At 13, following my scholastic success at the Rainerum as a theatrical monologist, I made my first short film and have never stopped since. Today, at 15 years old, I am completing my third short film. Among my previous works, there is "Post Kill" and "Deadly Tape". The latter even conquered the Global Lift-Off Film Festival, opening the doors to the world of cinema and establishing me in the sector.
My passion for cinematography led me to become the cinematography category representative of the 54th edition of the Bolzano student festival. A responsibility that contributed to shaping my artistic and professional growth as I was new to the sector.
My collaboration with the Appiano Jump Out which allowed the creation of the short film through a space of 1380 square meters as a set and with a handcrafted Krampus costume made by Luca Pojer, gave life to my idea, implementing what I have longed for in the my mind. Thanks to the support of the Bolzano media office, I managed to obtain rental financing for a total of 28,800 euros in equipment.
Being the youngest cinematographic category leader in history to reach these levels is an honor and a responsibility that I carry with pride. My passion for visual art continues to guide me, and I'm excited to see where the next chapter of my adventure in this intrinsic industry takes me.
