Unfortunately, we are again postponing our live event. We are working on ways to get your films seen virtually, but we realize there is no match for a live festival. With Covid regulations and recommendations constantly changing, the reported low attendance at indoor events, both locally and nationally, and caution on the part of the general public, we have made the difficult decision to postpone again.

Your patience is appreciated as we explore ways to bring your art to the public as well as plan a festival you and the community can attend and enjoy.

We are pleased to announce that the Toms River Festival has been rescheduled to Friday October 1 - Sunday October 3, 2021 in downtown Toms River New Jersey.

New Jersey welcomes you to the inaugural Toms River Film Festival, taking place Friday through Sunday, October 2-4, 2020, in the Arts and Cultural District in historic Downtown Toms River by the Jersey Shore.

Our community celebrates environmentalism and sustainability and the Toms River Film Festival will give special consideration to films that focus on those topics. Our community also values education and the "maker" mindset and will be hosting workshops and presentations on the various hands-on aspects of filmmaking and film production.

The TRFF will also host a screenplay competition exclusively for NJ writers. The finalists will have excerpts from their scripts read live by local and professional actors.

The Toms River Film Festival will host parties each night of the event, a VIP lounge for filmmakers, workshops, table reads, Q&As following each screening, and plenty of opportunities to network with other filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals.

Come join us on the Jersey Shore, support independent cinema, and help foster the maker mindset!

Handcrafted jury awards will be given at the festival for each category.

Selected films will receive 2 All Access passes.

Filmmakers whose films are not selected to screen will still receive a weekend pass good for all screening blocks.

As Toms River Film Festival promotes mindfulness environmentalism and sustainability, we will accept NO PHYSICAL SCREENERS. All entries must be submitted online through Vimeo or FilmFreeway.

Film must be completed after December 31, 2018.

Each entry must be accompanied by its own entry form and fee.

Filmmakers are welcome to submit works-in-progress but note we will only review one cut. If you’d like to submit a revised edit, you will need to resubmit with another application and fee.

To receive a student discount on FilmFreeway, the filmmaker and/or film must be registered as a student project. Students must be, or have been, enrolled in an accredited school (K-12, undergrad, graduate) at the time of production. You do not need to be a student currently to submit your film.

Toms River Film Festival does not require any premiere status.

Your submission confirms that Toms River Film Festival has permission to exhibit your film during the festival. You give permission for TRFF to use titles, images, copy, and other production information from your film for promotional purposes. You agree that your submission is not subject to any litigation nor is threated by any litigation and you hold TRFF harmless from any and all claims of liability resulting from your entry. You own or have authorization to all necessary copyrights and licenses and will provide documentation upon request. You agree to take on all copyright liability in regard to your film submission. You give permission for TRFF to provide copies of your film to their film jurors for the purpose of determining film awards. You also give TRFF permission to provide excerpts from your film to the media for promotional purposes and copies of your film for review purposes only. Submission fees are non-refundable.

Fee waivers will not be granted as it takes much funding to run a film festival, so kindly refrain from asking.
