Todesfuge ("Death Fugue")
This is a setting of Paul Celan's 'Todesfuge' ('Death Fugue' in English) as read by the author sometime in the 1950s. This is a stream-of-consciousness take on his poetry with a meditation on how the past infiltrates the present, even in stark places, concentration camps that have become tourist sites. Paul Celan was a concentration camp survivor but lost both parents in separate camps. His poem is one of the most devastating pieces of literature of the 20th century.
