Today As I Run
A Washington state resident was in the forest the day the last few remaining members of the Profanity Peak family were killed, including a mother wolf and her four pups. Coming home that evening he wrote the poem "Today As I Run" to bear witness to what he saw and could not forget.
Our story is narrated by award winning actress and advocate Sheryl Lee (Twin Peaks) and animated by emerging Stop motion animator, Erentia Bedeker (Ruby & Roach). The animation technique used is silhouette stop motion animation with paper cut-outs.
"If this beautiful film does not move those who watch it then they have hearts of stone. I wept tears of sorrow and anger mixed. Highly intelligent, loyal pack members, wonderful parents. Innocent but hunted like criminals. The hunters are the criminals. I hope all Coloradans watch this and become compassionate guardians of your wolves."

Her feature directorial debut, Medicine of the Wolf was endorsed by Dr. Jane Goodall and won the Grand Jury award at the Arizona International Film Festival, the Best of Festival and Audience Choice award at the Minneapolis International Film Festival and the Audience Choice award at the G2 Green Earth Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Her documentary and advocacy work has been featured on NBC, PBS, ABC, Huffington Post, and National Geographic. Recently she was named a “change maker” in the Bethany College alumni magazine and was asked to speak about the value of apex predators on the TEDx stage in Fargo, North Dakota.
In addition to completing two short films with Sierra Club Colorado, she is currently midway in production on Mother Daughter Earth. The documentary is about her mother, Beth Little, who was one of the first female computer programmers in the 60’s who went on to build her own home in rural West Virginia and live much like a pioneer. Julia reflects in the film about her mother’s influence and how she dedicated much of her life to advocating for wilderness including many years volunteering with the West Virginia Sierra Club.
Today as I Run is a based on a poem about a wolf family called the Profanity Peak Pack that was killed unjustly in Washington state in 2016. We created this film in association with Sierra Club Colorado to bring attention to the tragedy that happened to this wolf family and that continues to happen wolves across the US.
Our overall mission is to call on Americans to be guardians for the few remaining wolves left in the lower 48 states.
Our story is narrated by actress and advocate Sheryl Lee (Twin Peaks) and animated by emerging Stop Motion animator ("Ruby & Roach) Erentia Bedeker.
Thank you for considering our story in your festival.
For the wolves and the wild,
Julia
