Titianus, story of an unfinished movie
Interviews, archive materials and stolen off-air compose the story about Matteo, the director of a local TV, who inexplicably abandons his debut film about the painter Tiziano Vecellio, a few weeks before the first ciak.
Through the camera of “M”, the making off operator, we will discover how Matteo has been inspired to change his life thanks to the studio for the screenplay.
Each member of the crew will give his own point of view about the affair, but only the author of the final documentary will achieve the truth.

Tommaso Brugin was born in Venice in 1985. After his cinema studies between Padua and Paris, in 2007 he graduated with a thesis about Tim Burton and the power of imagination.
He immediately started to work as filmmaker for artistic and commercial projects, as video installations, short films, commercials and documentaries, keeping updated his practical education with several courses and workshops all over the country.
Fascinated by the thin distance between fantasy and reality, he’s trying to translate this passion in his creative works and in the audio-visual language, writing and filming stories connected with his hometown.

Tiziano Vecellio was the most famous painter of the Serenissima Republic, esteemed in all the European courts of the time and studied as a precursor by many artists of the twentieth century.
The idea of the film was born from the desire to understand and tell the reason why and the need to do it with a new language, able to convey informations and reflections about the artist without bothering, making the viewer absorb them in an almost unconscious way through a story.
I chose the shape of the mockumentary drawing on my research about the thin line between reality and fiction typical of the grotesque and I thought to tell the preparations for a costume movie staging a fake backstage and imagining a style a little 'dirty' and some improvisation scenes to increase the feeling of realism.
This choice allows me to intrigue the viewer, but above all to satisfy him visually by offering him a scattered "puzzle" of the movie constituted by on-site researches, interviews to the actors, workshops of costumes and evocative locations.
Finally, it allows me to tell a story, that of Matteo, thanks to which I can give a personal interpretation to the life and career of Titian.
The film does not aim to tell the story of the Venetian painter in a comprehensive and notionalistic way, but aims to encourage the public to deepen their knowledge of books and art galleries, showing how even the study of antiquity can reserve surprises and help to know themselves.
