First time film maker, with over 30 years portrait photography experience. I have ventured into a world that I'm calling 'Video Portraiture'. Focusing on Indigenous Artists, at this point specifically from Spinifex Country in the Western Desert of Australia
This film piece came about by chance when I was filming about his painting practice. On one of many trips out to country, which is also always about hunting. I suddenly found myself careering across open bush on the trail of Marlu (Kangaroo). What unfolds is really a 'how to' on preparing and cooking Marlu. A rarely documented practice, which I was honoured to be part of.
Timo Hogan is from the remote community of Tjuntjuntjara in the Great Victoria Desert of Western Australia and is a senior law man.
