Marie Förster is an actor and filmmaker based in Berlin, Germany.
The series "Strings Attached" has been her first project as a filmmaker. It has been selected for 33 film festivals and won 19 awards worldwide. Marie has stepped into producing, writing, directing as well as acting as part of the international team who created the series.
"TICKETS PLEASE" has been on her creative mind for more than three years - growing from an initial idea (“How fun would it be to make a short about a woman catching fare-evaders in absurd disguises?”) into the reality of production (“How can we find an affordable way to shoot in subway cars and stations close to Berlin?").
Thomas Brinck is a German director and writer, based in Fürth, Bavaria. Known to his peers for his visually driven storytelling style, he has directed 9 short films, the latest being "A Passing Storm", which is currently on a festival run and most recently earned an Honorable Mention at Blackbird Film festival. He gathered further professional experience as a freelance filmmaker on commercial & corporate video shoots since 2016. In 2017, he received a BA in Multimedia and Communication, specializing in film, at the University of Applied Sciences Ansbach (Germany). In 2019 he graduated with a MA in Film, Specialism Directing at Screen Academy Scotland, Edinburgh (Scotland). In "TICKETS PLEASE", Thomas is especially interested in exploring the father-daughter relationship at the core of the story. Beneath her disguises, the Huntress is a caring daughter, who wants to support an aging father without taking away his agency.
Like most of the heroines I’ve created, The Huntress lives a lonely life. Growing up as an only child with a strong will to change the world (and no idea where to start), I was drawn to characters who experience the same unquenchable thirst for justice.
"TICKETS PLEASE" explores my love for the absurd, my fascination with complex father-daughter dynamics, and my infatuation with female vigilante characters.
My heart pounds with every second that Frank William Abagnale JR is being hunted in "Catch Me If You Can" and I am on the edge of my seat, laughing, when Hoagie dresses up as an old woman in "TAG". My love for vigilante heist films is very, very real. But when I searched for Female Vigilante Films? All I could really find was "Kill Bill". I need more. So I decided - I needed to make one.
Set on a bustling train in a fictional world, "TICKETS PLEASE" combines my thirst for fast moving, absurd, female driven heist movies about freedom and justice with the depth of a complicated yet timeless love story between a father and daughter.
