Director Statement

I came up with the idea for this movie because I wondered what a polyamorous relationship would be like under monogamous rules. It started with Rob (Robert Lee Humphery; co-writer of 'Thrupple') calling me and I told him about the idea. By the end of our conversation, he offered to write the film. A week and a half later, we had our first draft.

Between our first draft and the beginning of pre-production, I went back to school to earn my degree. Ironically Scriptwriting was available where I learned the formula of how to write a screenplay thanks to Prof. Diana Kirtz. It was in MES 153, I did my rewrites for Thrupple.

Then there's Damon Diddit, who deserves most of the credit for getting Thrupple done. It's his experience and knowledge of filmmaking that makes Damon an awesome mentor, and partner to work with. He (Damon) along with producer Magda Alliancin, are the main reasons why we were able to have a successful three-day shoot.

We started production in the midst of the pandemic. Virtual auditions, restrictions, and clearing safety protocols were all part of our experience. This project has brought lifelong lessons and knowledge that I couldn't imagine receiving at any film school. I'm forever grateful for this experience and I'm a better person because of it.
