Director Statement

I visited Jamaica in January 2020 and met this incredible young man and his family. His life story shocked me but his resilience and optimism were contagious and I was compelled to make a film about and with him. Trapped into gang violence and punished by a merciless penal system that has been designed to reign in the Caribbean island's seemingly endless cycle of violence, Demmino stands as a beacon of hope to other young men who feel like their lives are devoid of hope.
