3 giorni per cambiare

In 2011 Diego Gastaldi has a serious car accident in which he loses the use of his legs. He is 27 years old and from that moment his life will never be the same. As an aeronautical engineer passionate about travel, he will begin training to strengthen his physique and will do so to the point of becoming a Paralympic athlete of the Italian national team. Holder of national titles and records, in 2018 he will touch the sky with the victory of two medals won at the European Championships in Berlin. At that point he decides to retire from competition and to use his physical form to achieve new goals but also have fun. Thus begins a period of travel and adventures in hard-to-reach places. To do this, Diego designs and builds a motorized handbike that allows him to overcome hills and rough terrain. This will be the vehicle that will take him to Sardinia in December 2022 for an incredible three-day adventure that will forever change his way of seeing the world and others, cementing a relationship of trust and friendship with Daniele Facchino, an island Survival Instructor. Daniele, in order to satisfy Diego in his desire to visit the Sardinian hinterland, decides to take him inside some nuraghes. But the only way to do it will be to load it on your shoulder and climb. An exciting and unforgettable journey that will make us discover how the relationship between two people can be welded on the basis of mutual trust until it becomes an indissoluble bond.

Director Statement

"Three days to change" wants to tell the incredible journey undertaken in Sardinia by Diego Gastaldi (former athlete of the Paralympic national team, already winner of two medals at the European Championships in Berlin 2018) who was paralyzed from the waist down due to a serious accident, together to the team led by Daniele Facchino. Carrying Diego on his shoulders, up steep hills and ancient Nuragic stairs, Daniele and the support team will be able to take Diego to ancient monuments that he otherwise would never have been able to reach, during an exciting three-day trek through the territories between Ulassai and Osini. The documentary film aims to be a tool to help people with disabilities, even severe ones, to become aware of their real possibilities and to reflect on what their real limits might be.
