Angelo Thomas is an award-winning filmmaker and storyteller dedicated to telling stories that move, entertain, and inspire. His films can be found on Tubi, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and other streaming platforms worldwide.
Angelo’s feature directorial debut, “The Incredible Jake Parker,” was filmed in nine days and made for just $50,000. The film, based on his book of the same name, depicts a teenager popstar’s recovery from anorexia. “Jake Parker” premiered in 2020 and has since been embraced by the eating disorders community and beyond.
Angelo went on to direct, produce, and edit “DeRosa: Life, Love & Art in Transition,” a feature-length documentary that chronicles a transgender woman’s lifelong journey towards self-acceptance. The film premiered in 2021 and earned Angelo his first major accolades—two silver Telly Awards.
Most recently, Angelo completed “Three Quarters Dead,” a dark comedy short film.
Angelo earned a B.F.A. in Film & Video from the Columbus College of Art & Design, where he graduated with the honors of Outstanding Senior and the Commitment to Service Award. In 2023, Angelo was awarded a grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council and served as a judge for the Columbus International Film & Animation Festival. He lives in Columbus, Ohio with his husband Kyle and their three Chihuahuas.
