Three Anomi

One of the protagonists in Valkimi's epic Ramayana story is Anoman. This figure is known as one of the Gods in Hindu religious beliefs. Anoman is a strong white monkey and is believed to be a God who gives protection. The Ramayana story from India influenced the classic Javanese literary, which was rewritten by Yogiswara around the 9th century called the Kakawin Ramayana.

In both the India and Java versions, Anoman is a masculine figure. We change masculinity with a feminist perspective by changing male figures into female figures. By changing the figure or character, it means that not only change the stories but also change the understanding that she also has power. Anomi is the feminine version of Anoman.

Director Statement

I mostly work with dance and theater mediums. The Covid-19 pandemic has forced me to work with cameras. I think that the camera, at least captures a moving body and sound. However, on the camera I can see body details that I can't see in performing arts. This work is my first experiment working with the medium of film, but still based on dance or theater.
