Thread
Ayanda struggles with a childhood thread game which Zimkhitha has been encouraging him to play. He uses their moment together to finally ask her dreaded questions of why she did not confide in him during the trauma? She continues to evade the question by helping him through the complex and layered thread game. The game is as confusing as he is trying to get a straight answer from her. In the heat of the moment Ayanda is fed up with her game, and demands answers. With her arms folded near her stomach, as though she is in a stance of defence, she suddenly shouts at him, telling him that there was nothing that he could have done. Ayanda is now speechless. She apologises to him, and asks to finish off the game. Ayanda holds up the thread of a completed pattern. On playing the game, she inserts her hand into the thread pattern and asks him to "let go". He is hesitant but finally lets go of the pattern which frees Zimkhitha's hand. He realises that she used the game as a metaphor for him to let go of their trauma. He looks into his pocket revealing her favourite glove woven in the same thread. On looking, we see that she has disappeared. Ayanda had been talking to her ghost, essentially revealing the trauma, which was her suicide.
