Director Statement

When you first watch it, "Mille Ponti" appears to be a story about the obstacles that a person in a wheelchair encounters in the city of Venice—a city with hundreds or bridges, where you walk thousands of steps every day—but, when you look beyond Sara’s disability, the story really recounts the difficulties that any one of us could face when an unfortunate change of circumstances alters the 'role' we always thought to play. How difficult can it be to adapt to these changing circumstances, or changing expectations?

The fairy tale endings we often see, or come to expect in our movies and novels, seldom exist in real life. When trouble strikes, we often make selfish choices, that frequently haunt our futures with regrets. Our film provides a different perspective on these unfortunate life events, by following Tommaso and his feelings for Sara as he tries to navigate their changed relationship.

We hope the film will help viewers reconsider the regretful decisions they still carry with them.
