Those Who Guide Us

Nobody can deny that spending time in the outdoors has countless mental and physical benefits that some people cannot live without. This film looks at the people that could not survive without the healing nature of the outdoors and how they share this spiritual and educational tool with those who surround them. Those Who Guide Us takes a look into the lives of three mountain guides Páll, Nikol and Bjorgvin as they highlight what brought them to make a career out of being outside and show what they can teach the world in terms of being a more conscious traveler and caring for this beautiful planet. Along with this, we discover how we can be more kind to the Earth and preserve it for future generations.

Director Biography - Mitchell Hemmer

Many miles down a long dirt road, there’s a little log cabin with no internet access but unlimited access to the outdoors. This may sound like some people’s nightmare, but this is where I grew up and learned to be one with the nature that surrounds us all. I always wondered why nobody wanted to visit. Sure you can’t get an internet connection, but you can connect with something much greater. My upbringing has taught me to value the places on this planet that not many people have seen, and I want to share all that it has to offer. Not just the beauty displayed in every social media post and headliner, but the ones down the very same dirt road that taught me this way of viewing life.
