Director Biography - Ana Maria Belo, Daniel Jameison

Ana Maria Belo is a natural born storyteller. She is an accomplished actor and has only just begun her filmmaker journey. Ana Maria is a self taught filmmaker and her first short film THINGS TO DO, which she wrote, produced, co-directed and starred in, won her a place in the top 16 films for TROPFEST. Ana Maria also won the WOMEN IN FILM AWARD. THINGS TO DO was selected for overseas festivals and was received beautifully.

Ana Maria Belo then went on to create more short films to hone her skills and find her voice. I HEART COFFEE and MAGIC WORDS. Both these films were received really well and won awards at local festivals.

Ana Maria then lost more of her hearing and had to finally get hearing aids. This meant re learning how to communicate.

This seemed like the end of the road for her career but Ana Maria was determined to get her voice and confidence back.

She is now the Ambassador for The Shepherd Centre, which gives deaf children a voice and teaches them to listen.

Ana Maria was inspired by the people she met at the Shepherd Centre and wrote THE KID’S TABLE in order to bring awareness to hearing loss and how it can impact everyone around them.
