Rob Shaw is an independent filmmaker who fell in love with video cameras when he was small. Since then, he has directed, shot and edited short films, music videos, and dabbled with Super 8. He has a Masters in Film and lives in Southend with his daemons.
Ed, the subject of this documentary, had been threatening to take his poetry on the road for a while. On something of a whim, he announced his intentions. Armed with a camera and a microphone, I joined him. The film presents the story of an underdog and the obstacles one can come across whilst making documentaries. Even if Ed sometimes comes across as a real life Alan Partridge, his efforts to become a poet of some renown turn out to be somewhat admirable, and can make for strangely moreish viewing. Each screening also has the opportunity to include a distribution of Ed's newest poetry 'book of the film'!
