Thieves
A desperate pickpocket reconsiders his actions when he encounters another pickpocket stealing from a pregnant woman.
Thieves is a visual narrative and tragic story using images and sound alone - no words. I wanted to make everything clear and straightforward, using only universal tools of storytelling to convey subtle emotions and suspense.

Julius grew up on the mean streets of Copenhagen, Denmark. He was dishonorably discharged from Officer Academy in the Danish Royal Army and decided to pursue filmmaking, first as a cinematographer and editor, then writer and director. He's written and directed shorts in Denmark, Australia and The US. His films focus on a strong sense of European cinema verité with naturalistic performances combined with American narrative drive.
Julius holds a BA in Film and Media Sciences from the University of Copenhagen and a master's in directing from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.
His latest writer/director effort, Australian set web series and feature film, GREENFIELD, was nominated for a Webby Award for best online Drama long form series.
People have intentions, which mean nothing until we take action with our hands. Those crucial, dividing moments define who we are.
THIEVES is a story about tragic redemption. It is about a man who has gone down a dark path in life, and one day is confronted by both his actions and past. A crucial moment occurs where he must decide with which version of himself he can live.
I wanted to tell a narrative, intense and tragic story using images and sound alone and no words. I wanted to make everything clear and straightforward, using only universal tools of storytelling to convey subtle emotions and suspense.
