Thief in the Dark

I am Arnulfo Moreno, the writer, director, producer and any other hat that's needed here at Cadejo Films. I have always looked up to the great storytellers in my family, and I was blessed to have many since I have roots in Spain, El Salvador, and Paraguay. I was always fascinated by how they would captivate us with stories of past relatives starting revolutions in South America, grandparents having to choose between love of family and duty to country, cousins traveling to the states on a whim having never met their “American” relatives, and of course the story of the cadejo.

In Central American mythology the cadejo is a cat like creature with hooves (though the exact description varies from country to country), and red eyes. A black cadejo is a creature that signifies misfortune or evil that will befall you. A white cadejo is a sign of protection and tries to help you avoid harm. I couldn’t think of a better creature that embodies the sharp contrasts found in my films, from dark comedies, to experimental and religious films.

One final thing that my relatives ingrained in me was making sure that I told my stories, shaped my history. With Cadejo Films I hope to do just that.
