Valeria Vicente.

1996, Acapulco de Juárez, Guerrero.
Valeria Vicente es una artista audiovisual mexicana. Autora, directora, fotógrafa y montajista de piezas de videoarte, cine experimental, live cinema y video musical. Trabaja con la voz, la imagen fija y en movimiento, video digital y sus derivas como medios de expresión donde utiliza técnicas análogas y digitales de apropiación, intervención, destrucción y reorganización desafiando los límites del uso “correcto” de la tecnología haciendo uso del acto en vivo y la improvisación, así como la postproducción y remixeo, cuya búsqueda en el arte audiovisual ahonda en la creación de ambientes de liminalidad narrativa en la que los extremos de lo común y lo fantástico o indescriptible conviven provocando la polisemia en cada pieza, reparando en el significado de la realidad, la memoria y su relación con la data, la corrupción de la misma y su traducción en la condición humana.
Ha sido ponente, expuesto, proyectado e interpretado, parte de su obra en varios espacios, museos y festivales de México, E.E.U.U., Europa, Asia, Australia y América Latina como; El programa “La flor de la vida” de la exhibición Frida & Diego: Love & Revolution en la Art Gallery of South Australia (2023), Glitchart is dead en la KK Berge Art Gallery (2022), VivaTech en el Paris Expo Porte de Versailles (2021), el Museo Morelense de Arte Contemporáneo José Soriano (2020) y en El Museo Nacional de las Culturas del Mundo (2019).
En actos en vivo como en ExTeresa Arte Actual (2023), la transmisión del Live Cinema México desde la Casa del Tiempo de la UAM (2022), en la edición híbrida del 2020 México-Japón del Festival internacional de creatividad digital MUTEK y en la Edición 16 (2019) formando el dueto de visualistas; Ultrachina. Tanto como VJ en el Festival Internacional Cervantino (2019), NRMAL, PANGEA (2020) e HIPNOSIS (2022).
Su trabajo ha sido reconocido por los festivales internacionales de cine y video; Bogotá Experimental Film Festival (2021) en Colombia, Hallucinea Film Festival (2021) en Francia, con mención especial en FUSE - Film Under Severe Experiment (2021) en Croacia, Future Traditions (2020) College of Fine Arts, Texas, EEUU y en el Helios Sun Poetry Film Festival (2023), NEOS Fest (2023), Cinegro(2023), Celaya Experimental Film Fest (2022 y 2023), Festival Fotogenia (2021) y ULTRAcinema (2020, 2021 y 2023) en México.
Ha dirigido, montado y fotografiado videos musicales como “(ISS) Estación Espacial Internacional” (2022) para El Universo, “The Depressing Sounds Of The Witch” (2020) para la banda ecuatoriana Sexores, o “Wabi Sabi”(2019) de Shax, fue asistente de fotografía en la videodanza “Las aves se reúnen en tu interior”(2019), entre otros proyectos de registro.
Es co-fundadora, coordinadora y curadora de contenido en la red latinoamericana de videastas experimentales VIDEÓNICA la cual produce actividades que han tenido sedes en Buenos Aires, Argentina y la Ciudad de México en las que se hace énfasis en compartir herramientas, técnicas, métodos y actores de la experimentación de señales y flujos de video.
Recientemente obtuvo el diploma en Cine y Medios Digitales por el CC Ollin Yoliztli, CMM, CCD y PROCINE, estudia el último año de la carrera en Diseño de la Comunicación Gráfica en la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana con una especialidad en Medios Audiovisuales, trabaja de forma recurrente en dirección de diseño de iluminación y producción para teatro y eventos en vivo e imparte talleres prácticos de experimentación con imagen fija y en movimiento de forma independiente en línea, pero que también han tenido sedes como la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales en Ciudad Universitaria, UNAM y en el festival latinoamericano WASI FEST así como versiones en cursos para las infancias de manera particular.

Valeria Vicente is a Mexican audiovisual artist. She is the author, director, photographer and editor of video art, experimental cinema, live cinema and music video pieces. She works with the voice, the still and moving image, digital video and its derivatives as means of expression where she uses analog and digital techniques of appropriation, intervention, destruction and reorganization, challenging the limits of the “correct” use of technology by making use of the act, live and improvisation, as well as post-production and remixing, whose search in audiovisual art delves into the creation of environments of narrative liminality in which the extremes of the common and the fantastic or indescribable coexist, causing polysemy in each piece, repairing in the meaning of reality, memory and its relationship with data, its corruption and its translation into the human condition.
She has been a speaker, exhibited, projected and performed, part of her work in various spaces, museums and festivals in Mexico, the US, Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America such as; The “Flower of Life” program from the exhibition Frida & Diego: Love & Revolution at the Art Gallery of South Australia (2023), Glitchart is dead at the KK Berge Art Gallery (2022), VivaTech at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles (2021), the José Soriano Morelense Museum of Contemporary Art (2020) and the National Museum of World Cultures (2019).
In live events such as at ExTeresa Arte Actual (2023), the broadcast of Live Cinema México from the Casa del Tiempo of the UAM (2022), in the 2020 Mexico-Japan hybrid edition of the MUTEK International Digital Creativity Festival and in the Edition 16 (2019) forming the duo of visualists; Ultrachina. Also as a VJ at the Cervantino International Festival (2019), NRMAL, PANGEA (2020) and HIPNOSIS (2022).

She has directed, edited and photographed music videos such as “(ISS) Estación Espacial Internacional” (2022) for El Universo, “The Depressing Sounds Of The Witch” (2020) for the Ecuadorian band Sexores, or “Wabi Sabi” (2019) for Shax was a photography assistant in the video dance “The birds gather inside you” (2019), among other recording projects.
She is co-founder, coordinator and content curator in the Latin American network of experimental videographers VIDEÓNICA which produces activities that have been based in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Mexico City in which emphasis is placed on sharing tools, techniques, methods and actors in the experimentation of signals and video flows.
She recently obtained a diploma in Cinema and Digital Media from the CC Ollin Yoliztli, CMM, CCD and PROCINE, she is studying the last year of her degree in Graphic Communication Design at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana with a specialty in Audiovisual Media, she works on a recurring basis in lighting and production design direction for theater and live events and teaches practical workshops on experimentation with still and moving images independently online, but which have also had venues such as the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ciudad Universitaria, UNAM and at the Latin American festival WASI FEST as well as versions in courses for children in particular.
